Estimated : 5000 BCE

Estimated Archaeologists in Indonesia have uncovered a 1,000-year-old temple that could shed light on the country's Hindu past.

The temple was found on the grounds of Yogyakarta's Islamic University as workers probed the ground to lay foundations for a new library, and they realized the earth beneath their feet was not stable. What it means ,is that Islamist destroyed temple and erected Muslim library there.

Digging revealed an extraordinary find: three metres underground were still-standing temple walls. Heavy rains then exposed the top of a statue of the god Ganesha in pristine condition.

A few weeks into the excavation, archaeologists are declaring the temple and its rare and beautiful statues an important discovery that could provide insights into Indonesia's pre-Islamic culture.

"This temple is a quite significant and very valuable because we have never found a temple as whole and intact as this one," said archaeologist Dr Budhy Sancoyo, who is one of the researchers painstakingly cleaning up the temple.

"For example, looking at where the statues are placed in this temple, they are in their original positions, unlike the other temples.

"This temple is important for understanding the culture of our ancestors."

A volcanic eruption is thought most likely to have covered the temple around the 10th century, about 100 years after it was built.

The eruption preserved its statues and reliefs in better condition than almost everything else discovered in Indonesia from that period, including the Borobodur and Prambanan temple complexes.
The library that was destined for the site will be redesigned to incorporate the Hindu temple.

Hindu history of Malaysia-wikipedia.org
Malaysia has one of the largest ethnic Indian populations outside India, with an estimated 1.79 million people of Indian origin in the country. This amounts to roughly 7.1 percent of the total population of Malaysia which is about 25.3 million. An overwhelming portion of the Indians in Malaysia, about 89 percent, are Hindus.

History

Hinduism was prevalent in Malaysia prior to the arrival of Islam in the 15th century. Traces of Hindu influence remain in the Malay language, literature and art.
Indian settlers came to Malaysia from Tamil Nadu in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Many of these came to work as labourers onrubber plantations, while those who were English-educated occupied more professional positions. A minority of Indian immigrants to Malaysia during this time period came from Northern India and Sri Lanka.

Culture

Malaysian Hinduism is diverse, with large urban temples dedicated to specific deities, and smaller temples located on estates. The estate temples generally follow the tradition of the Indian region from which the temples' worshippers originate. Many people follow the Shaivite, or Saivite, tradition (worship of Shiva), of Southern India. However, there are also some Vaishnava Hindus in Malaysia as well, many of them of North Indian extraction, and these Hindus worship in temples such as the Geeta Ashram in Seksyen 52, Petaling Jaya, or the Lakshmi-Narayan Temple in Kampung Kasipillay, Kuala Lumpur. Services in these temples are usually conducted in Hindi and English.

Folk Hinduism is the most prevalent variety, including spiritualismand worship of local gods.

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness also has a number of followers in Malaysia, and maintains temples in Kuala Lumpur,PenangTaiping and Seremban. The Ratha-Yatra festival is held once a year, when the Deities of Lord Jagannath, Baladeva and Subhadra are placed on a chariot which is pulled through the streets by devotees, accompanied by a party chanting the Hare KrishnaMahamantra.
There are also few devotees of Sri vaishnava(Ramanucharya)and Madhva Sampradayaa.. There are also a few followers of Sai Baba

Since the Second World War a revival of Hinduism has occurred among Indian Malaysians, with the foundation of organisations and councils to bring unity or to promote reform.
Hindu religious festivals

Some of the major Hindu festivals celebrated every year include Deepavali, Thaipusam.

Thaipusam celebration near Batu Caves.

Persecution

Between April to May 2006, several Hindu temples were demolished by city hall authorities in the country. On April 21, 2006, the centuries old Malaimel Sri Selva Kaliamman Temple in Kuala Lumpur was reduced to rubble after the city government sent in bulldozers ostensibly because of a violation of construction laws.
The president of the Consumers Association of Subang and Shah Alam in Selangor State has been helping to organize efforts to stop the local authorities in the Muslim dominated city of Shah Alam from demolishing a 17-year-old Hindu temple. The growing Islamic conservatism in Malaysia concerns many Malaysians who follow minority religions such as Hinduism.

Many Hindu advocacy groups have protested what they allege is a systemic plan of Temple cleansing in Malaysia. The official reason given by the Malaysian government has been that the temples were built "illegally." However, several of the temples were centuries old and predated many mosques which do not receive the same treatment.

On May 11, 2006, armed city hall officers from Kuala Lumpurforcefully demolished part of a 90-year-old suburban temple that serves more than 3,000 Hindus. The "Hindu Rights Action Force," orHINDRAF a coalition of several NGO's, have protested these demolitions by lodging complaints to the Malaysian Prime Minister . Their chairman, Waytha Moorthy Ponnusamy, said:
“These state atrocities are committed against the most underprivileged and powerless sector of the Hindu society in Malaysia. We appeal that this Hindu temple and all other Hindu temples in Malaysia are not indiscriminately and unlawfully demolished,”.

ANCIENT RUSSIA WAS A HINDU NATION-
Ancient Vishnu idol found in Russian town

MOSCOW: An ancient Vishnu idol has been found during excavation in an old village in Russia's Volga region, raising questions about the prevalent view on the origin of ancient Russia.

The idol found in Staraya (old) Maina village dates back to VII-X century AD. Staraya Maina village in Ulyanovsk region was a highly populated city 1700 years ago, much older than Kiev, so far believed to be the mother of all Russian cities.

"We may consider it incredible, but we have ground to assert that Middle-Volga region was the original land of Ancient Rus. This is a hypothesis, but a hypothesis, which requires thorough research," Reader of Ulyanovsk State University's archaeology department Dr Alexander Kozhevin told state-run television Vesti .

Dr Kozhevin, who has been conducting excavation in Staraya Maina for last seven years, said that every single square metre of the surroundings of the ancient town situated on the banks of Samara, a tributary of Volga, is studded with antiques.

Prior to unearthing of the Vishnu idol, Dr Kozhevin has already found ancient coins, pendants, rings and fragments of weapons.

He believes that today's Staraya Maina, a town of eight thousand, was ten times more populated in the ancient times. It is from here that people started moving to the Don and Dneiper rivers around the time ancient Russy built the city of Kiev, now the capital of Ukraine.

An international conference is being organised later this year to study the legacy of the ancient village, which can radically change the history of ancient Russia.

ANCIENT CHINA WAS A HINDU NATION-
Photo: The Chinese discover something in the mountains of Tibet and Lhasa. They are the bundle of strange documents!
The documents are sent to Dr.Ruth Reyna, University of Chandigarh, for translation and special comments. Dr.Reyna’s findings are eye opening. She declares that the manuscripts contain the following.
Directions for building interstellar spaceships with a method of propulsion that are essentially anti-gravitational. The method was similar to that of laghima, the power of man’s ego. It is described as ‘a centrifugal force strong enough to counteract all gravitational pull’. Hindu Yogis claim it is a man’s laghima that allows for his body to levitate (rise defying gravity).
 These machines are called astras.
       2. The text also contains claims that ancient Indians could have sent detachments of men on to any planet.
     3. The secrets of antima (cover of invisibility) and of garima (method of making one’s body as heavy as a mountain of lead) are revealed. The Chinese are including certain parts of this data in their space program research and study.
        4. It has mentioned a planned trip to moon.

1000 years old Ancient Hindu Temple Uncovered in Yogyakarta ,Indonesia under Islamic University

Archaeologists in Indonesia have uncovered a 1,000-year-old temple that could shed light on the country's Hindu past.

The intricately carved ...statues and reliefs are some of the best preserved in Indonesia, but the dig is being conducted under tight security to protect the site from well-organised relic thieves. The temple was found on the grounds of Yogyakarta's Islamic University as workers probed the ground to lay foundations for a new library, and they realised the earth beneath their feet was not stable.

But now that they are exposed, the temple's contents need to be protected with 24-hour security.
Last November, thieves plundered the nearby Plaosan Temple.
The heads of two rare Buddhist statues were stolen, to be traded by organised syndicates dealing in artefacts.
Tri Wismabudhi from central Java's culture and heritage agency says temple thieves are robbing Indonesians of a piece of their history.
"To us, archaeological sites like this are archaeological data, so if the data is missing or incomplete, that means the history of the nation is also missing," he said.
"People don't understand that. That's why they steal, because they don't realise how important this is for us as a nation."
At the Kimpulan temple on the campus of Yogyakarta's Islamic University, the statue of Ganesha is being kept slightly buried to make it harder to steal.
It could sell for up to $250,000 on the black market.
The university wants to open the site to the public once the dig is complete.
The library that was destined for the site will be redesigned to incorporate the Hindu temple.
